“Carthage professors are clearly passionate about the subjects they teach, and it’s easily reflected in the students’ learning.”

Laura Xiu Hung, ’24

Why Carthage?

“Like most people, I absolutely fell in love with the campus. It’s on the smaller side; however, you can’t beat the view! Carthage, unlike most schools, offers a variety of modern language majors. I felt that Carthage’s language program was something that I wanted to take advantage of, so I did.”

Faculty mentors

“Professor Darwin Tsen, my first Chinese professor, allowed me to explore and enjoy learning Chinese in a way that I haven’t before, and he made class extremely enjoyable. I know that when I wanted to advance my Chinese learning with additional classes and learning another parallel language (Hokkien), Prof. Tsen was supportive about all of it and exhausted all the resources he had to help me. I am so grateful to have had an excellent professor like him.”

Favorite class

“My favorite classes have been my Chinese classes. My classmates and professors make the environment fun and engaging, which really benefits my learning.”
